    FAQs

How many brick pavers do I need per square foot?

Laid flat, a standard 8 x 3.5 inch brick takes about 4.4 bricks per square foot with 3/8-inch joints. In a herringbone pattern the bricks are set on edge, showing the 8 x 2.25 inch face, so you need about 6.5 per square foot with 3/8-inch joints. The calculator works this out for any of our bricks and joint sizes.

How much floor does a pallet of brick pavers cover?

Laid flat with 3/8-inch joints, a pallet of 504 flat floor bricks covers about 113 sq ft, and a pallet of 450 Flint street brick pavers covers about 108 sq ft. You can also buy bricks by the unit, and the calculator rounds up to a full pallet when that costs less.

Which brick paving pattern should I choose?

Herringbone, with the bricks set on edge, locks together best and makes the strongest floor. Running bond is the simplest to lay and has the fewest cuts. Stack bond gives a clean grid, and basket weave a traditional look laid flat. Our street pavers are laid flat only.

Which bricks can I use for a driveway or outdoors?

For a driveway, use our Flint street brick pavers. They were made to carry traffic. For patios and walkways, Black spot Rockland bricks and street pavers hold up best. Our red, orange, dark and flat floor bricks are best for indoor floors such as kitchens, mudrooms and entryways.

How many extra brick pavers should I order?

Add 5% for running bond, stack bond or basket weave, and 10% or more for herringbone, which needs more cuts at the edges. Add more for curves. Reclaimed bricks vary piece to piece, so a little extra lets you pick the best faces.
